Director’s Message

Dear Tetso Family
On 18 February 2021, Nasa’s Perseverance rover landed on the planet Mars at 20:55 GMT after almost seven months, travelling over 292 million miles from Earth landing at the exact location that these brilliant scientists were aiming for. We are living in an amazing age where we are now reaching out to other planets and have access to so much information, comfort and knowledge compared to our ancestors. I can’t even imagine what the world will be like 10 years from now. Will we be on Mars, will we cure cancer, will all cars be electric or… will the Naga solution be concluded by then?

While we might have read or watched the Mars landing and other feats of human ingenuity, I think all of us were tackling another kind of problem – learning to survive a pandemic. I hope that all of you and your families and loved ones continue to be safe and are now eager to return to campus even if it’s with adherence to the compromises required due to the Covid SOPs.

This pandemic experience has caused havoc around the world and could continue to overwhelm industries, institutions and even challenge individual people mentally and physically – or it will make them stronger. In spite of higher education having been deeply affected; I believe the Tetso College family has successfully coped through quick adjustments allowing for a seamless transition in today’s VUCA(volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world of continuous change. We have emerged stronger by embracing change instead of fighting it –  whether it meant having to pay your college fees online, correcting papers online, passing your exams without cheating or even presenting a song or dance online. Tetso College was always transitioning to a hybrid educational system with google for education but the pandemic forced us to transition to it in a matter of days

We know that many of you have gone the extra mile to do what it takes and we thank you for the extra effort you have all made to ensure that the vision and mission of Tetso College remain steadfast. In spite of the toll it has taken in each of our lives, we are amazed at how accommodative everyone has been to the demands that higher education has required. We are especially proud of the Tetso family because we are not afraid to work hard, driven by passion in our profession, and conscious of the important role we have chosen in transforming our students and our society, starting with transforming our own selves.

Today, things are still not normal even if they may appear to be. Please keep in mind that even one Covid-19 positive case could shut our campus down so we still cannot let our guard down. Considering how smoothly the entire Tetso family navigated the change, I have no doubt we will be able to adapt to this change as well. However, it will not be easy and we should understand that everyone is experiencing this for the first time and we all need to be positive and be ready for change and inconveniences. With all these challenges, we must not let negativity or doomsayers prevent us from striving for excellence. We must remember that each of us is empowered to reach excellence and each of us has a responsibility to create a positive impact in the world.

When you return to campus you will see a lot of construction work in progress – a new air-conditioned indoor auditorium, a new staff & PG residential accommodation, upgraded sports facilities, a new provision store and more. On the academic front, you will see some new faces and preparations to introduce our Bachelor of Computer Applications programme and BA linguistics programme this academic year.

The world has now reached Mars, maybe, one of our own Tetso College family will also set foot on that world. Dare Mighty Things.
