Chief Minister’s Scholarship for Music 2021

Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) presents a 3 months intensive capacity building program for Music Educators and Music Producers/ engineers at Dr. AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, Chennai. The course is suited for early or mid-career, music teachers or music producers/engineers to get professional assistance and guidance on professional development.

Courses for Music Educators:

Teachers will take a course on music education practices and teacher development. Participation will take place in a lecture/seminar series, discussing the contemporary/current musical scene, within India and globally.

Courses for Music Producers/Engineers:

Producers/Engineers will undergo a series of workshops on current studio techniques. Participants will also be mentored by a full-time faculty member at KM Music Conservatory, who they will shadow in their work, observe and discuss teaching/working approaches, plan and deliver lectures or participate in active studio working.

Learning Activities:

Lecture/Seminar Series: Music Today, 1-1.5 hr weekly

Lecture Series: Music Education Practices, 1-1.5hr weekly (Teachers only)

Workshop Series: Studio Practices, 1-1.5hr weekly (Producers/Engineers only)

1-on-1 staff mentoring (flexible/variable hours) – interning with a specialist within KM Music Conservatory, The Sunshine Orchestra, KM Studio, Panchathan Record Inn or AM Studio.

Who can apply:

  1. Music educators from TaFMA empanelled music institutions.
  2. Music producers/engineers empanelled with TaFMA.

Required qualification:

  1. Music Educator: Degree/Diploma in Music Theory and Teaching experience of 2 years.
  2. Music producers/engineers: Degree/Diploma in Music Production and 2 years or more experience in music production field.

Terms and conditions:

  1. The scholarship will cover tuition fees, basic accommodation and a monthly allowance of Rs. 20,000/- per person for food and other domestic needs.
  2. The course will commence on 1st May and finish on July 31st 2021.
  3. Selected Candidates must finish the full course, without which no certificate of completion will be awarded.
  4. Cost of Air travel to and fro will be covered.
  5. On completion, all participants are required to present what they have learned as a seminar presentation with Q&A from faculty and other participants.
