Have you seen a child so sweet,
Ruddy like ripe fruit?
Don’t you wish that you could eat it up?
It does not understand.
Have you seen a flower so fair,
Princess-like, virgin and pure?
Don’t you wish that you could kiss its hand?
It does not understand.
Have you seen a view so scenic,
Dream-like, soft and fantastic?
Don’t you wish that you could hold it in your hands?
It does not understand.
Is it not a pathetic plan,
To stay up many a night,
Scratch your head like an early man,
Scribble symbols that seem right,
To make them understand?
But that’s the way that life was set;
There’s never enough of what you want!
Someday, if you find yourself alone with such a sight,
Please remember me,
And understand, that to me,
You were the queen of their kind.
