For someone who doesn’t quite watch movies, watching a drama series was out of question. I race myself to finish any movie and if I am to watch one, it would rather be for entertainment. I however decided to give a chance to the Korean drama series ‘Mine’ on recommendation by a dear friend. Surprisingly it was a good one and I found myself actually looking forward to new episodes. Keep in mind, it is an on-going series.
Mine episode 1 shows how the rich live while also bringing an intriguing start to a murder mystery by introducing a dysfunctional, wealthy family set up as a conglomerate. It’s a good start for the k-drama series.
This series offers the viewers nothing short of entertainment and many things to ponder on. It revolves around two strong and married women Seo Hee Soo and Jung Seo Hyun. They both are married into a wealthy family. Having high hopes from life and wanting to break the prejudices both struggle to find their true identity.
The drama series tries to be far from cliché with each characters built strongly and story line well scripted: the most important lesson being how ones’ action, in private or public, has its consequences to meet.
Unlike those typical Korean dramas where women are portrayed as weak and submissive, the K-drama ‘Mine’ tells a different story. It normalizes a humorous and intelligent woman. The relationship between Seo Hee Soo and Jung Seo Hyun who are both married into the same family is rather comforting. Seo Hee Soo and Jung Seo Hyun, the two in-laws are both fragile and strong at the same time. There is a strong bond between Hi soo and Seo Hyun
There are many lessons to learn from this series. However, what excites me is the women characters in this drama. Over the episodes, we see the development of love and support women have for each other. It teaches an important lesson on women understanding their fellow beings and being there for one other.
The plot moves at a slow pace but remains intriguing. It excites the viewer to look forward to every new episode. Thus said how about you also give this drama series a try.
