Kasunga Victoria Kuba emerged the winner of 7th Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship 2018 after she correctly spelled two consecutive words ‘Kaleidoscope’ and ‘Sine Qua Non’ in the final round.
Kasunga, a student of Class IX from Model Higher secondary School Kohima pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 60,000. Vijayanad V. Thomas from St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School Kohima bagged 2nd position and awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000. His winning word was “Valetudinarian.”
Kethono Thorie of Trinity School Kohima landed third position with her winning word “Reincarnate” and received Rs. 20,000. Dzüvino Keyho from Great Commission Higher Secondary School Dimapur bagged fourth position and got a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. “Soothsayer” was her winning word.
Four quarter finalists Nimewe-ii Christabel Khalo of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangatham Kohima, Shanjothung Ngullie of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangatham Kohima, Neivilhounuo Shiiya of Baptist High Kohima and Mhankabemo Ovung of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Wokha were awarded with Rs. 5000 each.
Kevivor Joshua Meru of G. Rio School Kohima conferred with Young Speller Award and received Rs. 4000.
Menukhol John, Principal Secretary for School Education gave away prizes to the winners at the valedictory function.
The two-day long event was organized by Fountain Club Kohima in partnership with State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) Nagaland with the theme “The Learning Edge.”
