Nagaland Students Outshines in India International Science Festival, Lucknow

The new generation of Nagaland shows an instance of utter brightness and meritorious quality as school students from Nagaland who attended the India International Science Festival held in Lucknow came home winning 6 prizes. The science festival had held from October 5 to 8.

The Nagaland school students bagged one first prize, two second prizes, two third prizes and a consolation prize in the North East Students Conclave section of the prestigious event. A press release by the Director of School Education Wonthungo Tsopoe states that the performance showed by the Nagaland school students is ahead of the other NE States that took part in the Science Festival.

There were a total of thirty-seven presentations made by the students from the seven NE States and the theme followed for the presentation was “Developmental Prospects of North East.”

Among the winners from Nagaland schools, Shoniu Shiu, a class 11 student of Baptist High Kohima, won the first position in the presentation. Shiu is followed by Lemchila Sangtam, a class 11 student from Govt. Higher Secondary School and Tuensang and Kikasangla, class 12 students from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Dimapur, who secured the Second prizes. In the same category, Metsongmalem M Chang, a class 11 student from GHSS Tuensang and Yaikomba Thingujam, a class 10 student of Holy Cross HSS Dimapur bagged the third prizes.

Moreover, the consolation prize in the same category was clinched by Anushka Bhattacharjee. Anushka is a class 11 student in Pranab Vidayapit HSS, Dimapur.

The press release also says that the eminent scientists from premier institutions of the country, who were also a part of the science festivals as its jury, were impressed to see the talents exhibited by the students from Nagaland. They even encouraged the students to pursue their career in scientific research which will contribute towards the development of the region and the country.

The press release states, “They assured all possible help for guiding the students from the State to pursue studies in various research oriented programmes.”
