About Samvaad: Conceptualized and anchored by the Tata Steel Foundation since 2014, Samvaad has now developed into an ecosystem for tribal communities across India (and beyond). While serving as a platform that seeks out grassroots tribal voices, it also celebrates the rich history and treasure trove of culture, music and folklore that is integral to the tribal way of life. More than 30,000 women, children and men from 117 tribes across 27 states of India and 18 countries have reposed faith in the Samvaad ecosystem and been part of the dialogue. This ecosystem, under usual circumstances, comprises a flagship 5 day event in November each year in Jamshedpur with an annual footfall of 2,500 people at the conclave, bookended between regional editions, cinema-led discussions, research competitions, culture fellowships and youth leadership programmes across the year. We have been humbled by the support we have received from several eminent leaders, development practitioners, thinkers, bureaucrats, artists, scientists, authors and musicians who share a conviction in the indigenous.

Samvaad 2020: This year, despite the unprecedented and uncertain nature of the times, Samvaad 2020 will be held online through a model which respects the current restrictions on mobility while balancing the gains and limitations that the digital format places on sustained conversation. The programme will commence on the evening of 15th November 2020, and continue with full day schedules from 16th – 19th November 2020.
