Speak Up – Inato Aye

You left behind what you wanted to be,
When you thought your marks weren’t sufficient.
Now you have embarked yourself on this meaningless journey.
A decent job that will pay my living expenses seems to be the probable destination.

Every test paper seems to reflect the same marks,
Based on which you once decided your path.
I guess you didn’t have the courage to reflect your potentials,
For you let your marks be your guide.

You left behind what you wanted to be,
When your parents decided your future based on your high marks.
Now you have embarked yourself on this journey,
Others’ expectation without yours is what you live on with.

Every test paper seems to bear the same marks,
Based on which your path was once decided by others.
I guess your thoughts don’t count,
For a puppet is what you chose to be.

Does your opinion not matter?
Speak up, for the society doesn’t need to shape you,
Let others not be your voice,
For at the end of the day, you have to speak for yourself.
