3T: Why did you become a teacher?

Amar: I wanted to be a teacher because I have a lifelong passion for learning and I particularly enjoy passing on my knowledge to others. Furthermore, I would enjoy the fact I will have a positive impact on people’s lives and the ability to help which influences them to work hard and to realize the benefit of a solid educational grounding before embarking on their chosen career.

3T: What are your strengths as a teacher?

Amar: Undoubtedly my greatest strength is the passion for my teaching profession. Most importantly, I believe it reflects on each lesson or each talk I have with the students. They can feel that I really want the best from them and try my best in each lesson, which of course in my opinion motivates them to also try hard or at least to stay disciplined.

3T: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Amar: Currently I am pursuing PhD and so my focus is more on it. But as I am asked about my future goal, I really want to be a teacherpreneur.  I want to go beyond my classroom and do something else i.e., any social projects for students or teachers, material design or consulting etc. I want to challenge myself, leave the comfort zone and through this I may develop professionally and personally.

3T: What approach or strategy do you use to learn new information?

Amar: In the last few decades, advancements in technology have propelled the education sector. Moreover, teaching is a life-long process. Therefore, I am ever ready to adapt, learn and upgrade myself with the new technology and new information.

3T: What are your interests or hobbies outside the classroom?

Amar: Listening to old melodies, travelling to new places, cooking occasionally etc.

3T: How do you manage your time to get all your teaching duties done within schedule?

Amar: The Almighty God has given 24 hours to each and every individual in this universe. So, everything depends on time management and priorities. Accordingly, I figure out what I should do first, second and so on.

3T: What is the biggest challenge that today’s teachers face?

Amar: Over the period of time, the role of teachers has greatly evolved. According to me, I feel balancing the different learning needs of students is the biggest challenge that today’s teachers are facing.

3T: What keeps you motivated every day?

Amar: Teaching profession is a journey filled with opportunities to learn, enjoy and grow as much as one can try. There is an inspirational quote about teaching- such as ‘Today you lead the school, tomorrow your students will lead the world.’ This quote inspire me to keep going and encourage me to be the best educator I can be.

3T: If you were not a teacher, what would you want to be and why?

Amar: To be frank, I have no clear cut answer for this question. I started tutoring when I was in higher secondary. At that time, I did not think much of teaching as a career. All through my college days, I was a tutor of class 8, 9 and 10 students and earned a fair amount of money too, money I desperately needed because of my family situation. Once I completed my Masters in Commerce, the obvious choice was to join a college as a teacher. I did not consider any other option at that time.

But once I started working, I started loving the daily interactions with my students. I learnt as much from them as I taught them. Slowly and gradually I landed up in teaching profession.

3T:  Who is your role model? / Why do you look upto?

Amar: My father is my role model who taught me the value of honesty and integrity.
