Stay A Little Longer – Cynthia Zeuzeule

I had a friend
She was witty, confident and kind
We were very close or so I thought
We would talk about things from silly gossips to serious life lessons, talked about our dreams, our passion.
Often I thanked the universe for bringing her into my life, for aligning our stars
Who was to say what came after?
Things happened, she found a worthier friend.

Days passed and she began to distance herself from us
Today, I barely see her
She barely looks at my side let alone talk to me
I miss her warm embrace and our talks
I miss the bond we once shared and the promise of friendship we once made

But I realised it was pointless forcing someone to stay when they didn’t want to
and they could leave whenever they wanted to
All I can do right now is wish her happiness.
I hope you are well, my friend!
I hope you are happy now.
