STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE

Strive for excellence

The person you become in the pursuit of your dream is worth far more than the achievement of that dream. Excellence is a healthy striving to be outstanding or above average. It promotes personal growth and improvement.

Excellence is a daily, never-ending journey. That means that the majority of your focus is on the things that are working really well and on the next thing you can do, which is within your reach. That can be incredibly motivating and inspiring because we all have an innate need to do better, to excel. Striving for excellence does not mean that you must be perfect. It is doing ordinary things extraordinarily. It is the gradual result of always striving to do better.

So many people strive for perfection and end up never starting and not doing anything! Striving for excellence means that you use your talents, abilities and skills in the best way possible and get ahead of others by giving that little extra. Excellent does not mean perfection. So, what does that have to do with excellence and perfection. If excellence is about continuously improving, doing the best you can and looking for ways that you can build on that to be that little bit better day by day, then your focus when you are striving for excellence is on all the things you are already doing well. On the other hand, if you are striving for perfection, your focus is long-term and on the things that are missing between where you are now and the point of perfection, that is the point at which it cannot get any better. That can be demoralizing because you are not gradually building on all the things that are working well now, you are focusing on a wide. You will get there. There will always be something that can be improved. Excellence doesn’t mean reaching the pinnacle of success. It isn’t about being better than other people or never making mistakes. In fact, a popular idea in the field of personal growth is that, if you strive for excellence, you’ll never lose your motivation. If you set your sights on perfection, however, you doom yourself to suffering. If you aim for excellence, you’ll be motivated and ready to overcome anything. When you aim for excellence, you understand that you can learn from your mistakes. On this path, failure is just another opportunity to improve. There’s an emerging field in psychology called the psychology of excellence. It aspires to gain an in-depth understanding of the processes through which people achieve happiness and professional fulfilment. In order to understand it better, here’s an example. A common phenomenon is that many talented children who develop their skills during their youth end up abandoning their practice as adults. Musicians, gymnasts, artists, dancers… Why would people with so much potential, mastery, and skills stop doing the activity that made them unique? The answer is simple: we often focus on talent without developing excellence. In other words, people usually think that, if someone is good at something, it’s because they’ve been blessed. You either have talent or you won’t amount to anything. As for you, do you wait for perfection before getting started, do you strive for excellence or do you get by with doing just enough? Accomplishing task is an excellent fashion gives you great pride and self esteem, since the quality of your work is a measure of the quality of yourself. For real success and progress in life, it is all about developing a mindset of excellence, efficiency and effectiveness in everything you do. Remember that every minute saved will build up that extra hour each day and you can do a lot in that extra time. If that’s what it takes to be the best, then that’s what it takes! People who strive for excellence can accept that mistakes are inevitable and value what they learn from them. They don’t let mistakes define them. When we pursue excellence, we value the process, not just the outcome. We know that the learning, fun, relationships and memories that we build along the way, are often as important as the outcome. When we value the process, we are better equipped to life’s ups and downs because we know that the outcome isn’t always a reflection of our effort, skills and intelligence.

Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude! Strive for excellence, not perfection. When we strive for excellence, we feel satisfied with a job well done. We learn from our mistakes and don’t let them define us. And when we strive for excellence, we aim high, but we keep our lives in balance. Striving for excellence is trying to do your best. In your role as a student, it is important that you do your best and produce excellent work. This will increase your confidence and esteem, as well as result in good grades and other benefits. It is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities

Don’t strive for perfect, Strive for Excellence!
