Dimapur: Tetso College observed “World Mental Health Day” on the 10th of October, 2020 led by the
Department of Psychology and Department of Sociology on the theme “Mental Health for All”.
Dr. Ningsangrenla Longkumer, Assistant Professor of Psychology, North Eastern Christian University
(NECU), Nagaland was invited as the resource person for the day. Dr. Longkumer shared her
experiences, and delivered ten suggestions or tips on how to cultivate a positive mental health. The
resource person encouraged the participants to have a positive self-talk, to express gratitude, pursue a
hobby, take a break from social media, read the Bible, to maintain a journal, listen to upbeat or relaxing
music, caring for and spend time with pets, declutter, have a heartfelt conversation with your circle of
friends, and make someone happy.
A video compilation of images, photography, drawings, cartoon sketches, written as well as audio
messages on mental health and emotional well-being submitted by the students of Psychology and
Sociology were also displayed during the webinar.
Further, a fun quiz competition was also held during the webinar, where Imlimenla of BA 1st Semester
Psychology Honours students acted as the Quizmaster. Many enthusiastic students, teachers as well as
non-teaching staff participated and in the end, Mapeugumbe Legiese of BA 1st Semester from
Psychology Department was declared the winner, while the runners-up were Kezhavikho Lhoushe, BA
1st Semester from Political Science Department, and Cynthia Zeuzeule, BA 5 th Semester from English
Department. Prizes for the winners consisted of data packs and certificates.
The webinar was chaired by Sungjemlila Longkumer of BA 3rd Semester, Sociology Department. Opening
remarks were delivered by Phoibiliu Newmai, Assistant Professor of Sociology while Merentoshi of BA
1st Semester Sociology Honours presented a special musical solo. BA 1st Semester student of
Psychology Honours, Kali Yeptho spoke on some take away points of this webinar.
Meanwhile, a special poetry recital was performed by Mapeugumbe Legiese and Tenyele Semp from BA
1st Semester Psychology Honors of poems they had written in view of World Mental Health Day. The
event ended with a thank you note by Assistant Professor of Psychology, Nouzhienino Peseyie.
