Engaging the Online Community During Covid-19
In an effort to use the virtual platform as a means of connecting people at a time where social distancing has become a requirement, it appears that webinars and online meetings are fast becoming a norm.
The 1st Virtual Parent Teacher Conference was organized by Tetso College to reconnect and address questions from stakeholders. A total of 1463 attendees attended the Conference held on 1st May 2020. Issues related to attendance, how best to prepare for the End Semester Exams, and what measures can be taken to stay safe during the pandemic. The College also informed about its recent partnership with Coursera, a world-class online learning platform to provide free online courses to its students and staff.
Another Student Webinar was held on 30th April 2020 by DOT Talks in collaboration with Tetso College. Students of Tetso College spoke out on the impact of COVID-19 on the education sector in Nagaland with Dr. Sabur Ali M, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Tetso College, as facilitator.
Ningtoulong Gangmei of BBA 4th Semester shared that to ensure education continuity conducting virtual classes coupled with the use of e-learning resources can greatly benefit the student community. However, Ghukha Chophy of BA Political Science 6th Semester was more concerned about the plight of students studying in government run institutions who come from economically weaker backgrounds. The poor internet connectivity in parts of Nagaland was cited as another problem and urged that the government look into these matters in order to ensure that no student is left behind academically. Alex Rio of BA 4th Semester had an optimistic approach to the lockdown which he said is a good opportunity to not only focus on academics alone but also learn and develop a skill during this period.
