Society often judges people according to how much money they have, so, money equals status. In some institutions you mean nothing if you don’t have money. Money is a very complicated reality of human life which may be responsible for the downfall of humanity. Let us learn about how a blind pursuit for money can lead to degradation of mankind as Hewale Kath looks at it.

The Hideous Pursuit for Money

“There are lot of people with loads of money, but have poverty of the mind and soul. Money will only give you options, but it will never bring happiness to a poor mind and poor soul.”
― Itayi Garande, Broken Families: How to get rid of toxic people and live a purposeful life

Money, Money, Money! The most common word in every society. We all know what money is, even a nursery kid understands the value of money. Money is a tool that enables us to protect ourselves, to build ourselves and our family for a better life. Think about it for a second, where is the money right now that you made last week? People believe that money equals happiness. Money has the power to wrap a person’s mind and personality. Money plays a major role in every individual’s life.

The root of evil is the people who want the unearned money. It is very clearly written in the Bible as well, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money have wandered from faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” Money is used by people in various ways interim of its value and as a medium of exchange but the present society is fully dependent on easy money. Most people hold the false beliefs that they are unable to live without money ‘, therefore, they condition their lives from early childhood to gain wealth by whatever means possible. This conning into the love of money has resulted in various forms of evils such as stealing, kidnapping, and all other sorts of immoral and illegal and evil actions which have destroyed many lives and families. Most of the robberies and violence are because of money. We see friends killing one another because of money and the greed for money is increasing rapidly in the mind of humans. Money is the root of all evils because money brings corruption, destruction, and violence in families as well as in societies. Money is not an unmixed blessing, total dependence or misuse of money may lead to undesirable and harmful results. In modern times, people have become so much money-minded that they openly indulge in corrupt practices to satisfy their greed for money. Children are kidnapped every second, every minute, every hour, everyday all over the world; the innocents are being killed by the kidnappers. They overlook the fact that they are putting innocent lives in danger. Why do you think people kidnap kids? Yes, it can be very clearly stated that it’s all because of money. Some people have the ability to work and earn money but still they go for malpractices and earn illegal money. Some Youth these days have become so greedy that they don’t like a small post/job where they earn less money instead they look for a big post/job where they can earn lots of money. This shows how today’s youths are becoming greedy for money. This is not only seen among the youths but also among the elders as well. Money is the root cause of theft, murders, frauds and other social evils. Money plays a very important role in our life but it has many disadvantages too. Money can be a very useful thing but at the same time it can be a destructive thing as well. As we all rely on money, we tend to give more importance to it. Money has great importance in society. People cannot live without money. It is indeed very true that human beings need money to live but too much dependence on money is also not good. One cannot buy his/her basic necessities without money, every person needs money for various works, but let’s look at the lives of poor and middle class people. They live a very economical life, they invest money to buy their necessities as well, but there is a difference between the rich and the poor. Both eat the same and are living a good life, but we see that a rich person invests more money in every little thing, and this is how some rich people are spoiled and also can’t live without the money. They openly look down on poor people who live a very economical life. We see the hatred and dislike among the people in neighborhoods and societies because of money. Therefore, we can say that money brings destruction, corruption and hatred among people.

Hence, I conclude by saying that money is surely the root of all evils because it is money that wakes up most of the desire of humans which sometimes leads a person to the wrong path. Humans rely on money as much as we rely on water to live. The world does not necessarily need money. There are many other different ways of earning money. Money, the root of all evil, has shaped our world into a corrupted nation, a people without a conscience, and a society of very scrutinizing and greedy human beings. In the early ages, amassing the most money was not always the main goal. Happiness and a beautiful family were top priority but now it is completely opposite. Money has become the top most priority and families are being neglected. In order to change the mindset of money-minded people and those greedy people, it is a must for every person to educate others that money can be earned by doing good works as well. A person can also conduct a seminar in the area mostly associated with malpractices, educating them about the consequences which they will have to bear after doing those works. There was a time when people lived a peaceful life with each other, but now with greediness for money everything has changed.

People also kill each other for money. There will be a day when we will all vanish lusting behind money. The earth will be a lonely place and no one will appear on the earth. Therefore, we human beings need to stop being so greedy for money and instead live a peaceful life with each other forever.
